Great app!

Accomplish detailed editing of audio files in an easy to use app! It does everything! Perfect for voice-over or audiobook recording.

Thats just what I needed for everyday recording. Simple and clean. And quick. Probably needs some more effects (it must have simple master limiter!) and analysis tools. Anyway great 5 star app!

Ive tried ProTools and Audition, both of which are great DAWs but so far beyond overkill for what I need they actually make it much harder to do what I need. Much of what I need an audio editor for is taking a long file (i.e. two sides of an LP, or a recording of some live event), cutting out a few bits and splitting the rest into separate files to use in iTunes. I can drop markers, even while playing and easily move them. Selections can then be made betwen them or the file can be split around them. I especially like the quick "delete-with-crossfade" the time of which can easily be adjusted afterwards. The GUI is super fast and responsive. The intertial scrolling of the magic mouse works beautifully with this -- I can zoom way in and out with just a flick of the finger (though there are keyboard shortcuts for this as well). I am able to even use the plugins that came with Final Cut express (eq and so forth). Cons: perhaps slightly overpriced, but I hope to see new features in future versions.

TwistedWave is a great application. Its very similar to the old SoundEdit Pro package old-school Mac users will remember from days of yore. Having said that, dont but it here. The version on the Apple store is 1.9.1 and the current version from the developer is 1.10.1. Additionally, you cannot install the updated version directly from the developer because it requires a registration key which Apple will not give you. So, great app but buy direct.

This app is terrific! Its simple approach to saving and modifying audio files is what sets it apart from Pro Tools and Audacity, both programs that I am familiar with. I use TwistedWave to normalize and edit audio files for many projects. Almost forgot, the customer service is incredible too, got a response very quickly from the developer who clarified an issue I was having. Thanks!

We use Twisted Wave every day to edit public radio programs heard across the nation. Yes, we also use the the latest name-brand professional apps, but Twisted Wave rocks when we just want to record or edit quickly with no fuss. The large, uncluttered layout clearly displays just the right amount of information and options. Yet in the menus, there are many powerful timesaving features, like <Effects Stacks> which make it easy to process a track with multiple plugins with just one click and then save that signal chain for future sessions. The <Recent Effects> menu remembers your favorite plugins keeping them close at hand and <Edit Menus> lets you substitute your own key commands or those you learned from another program like Pro Tools. As with any audio app, once in a while it hangs or crashes, but it does so gracefully, rebooting to where you were just prior to the disruption. Twisted Wave is a wonderful precision tool that will bring pleasure to audio professionals, students and home recordists alike.

I purchased this program in desperation. My windows music editing software kept crashing my PC so I thought I would try to use my Mac for music editing instead. Ive had Macs for 6 years but theres never been any software that compared to windows verions. Unfortuneately, this is still true. This program is unable to do the simplest tasks of moving the clips around in the field. A simple click, hold and slide of the mouse should move the item but no. You have to completely cut and paste until you get the correct placement. Far too time consuming. Then I needed to manually fade parts of the clips to blend together but this is not possible either. I was told in a prompt email reply to my questions that the program doesnt do those two tasks. Im not sure why anyone would use this program and what would they do with it if you cant move clips and fade them? I basically wasted my money. Dont waste yours.

I hadn’t heard of Twisted Wave until I really started looking into Audio Editors for my Mac. I needed something that I could use to break up a large audio file into smaller files, and Twisted Wave’s support for markers, and then exporting subfiles based on those markers was exactly what I needed. It’s selection and open/save options are comprehensive, and what I wasn’t expecting was how fast TW opens and saves files. I can quickly blast through a large set of sound files, opening them up easily for a quick edit, and it’s just as fast as brining up a quicklook preview in the finder. Plus, it can save .caf files directly, which is really helpful when creating sounds for iOS apps. Twisted Wave has already made my audio workflow much faster and easier. Highly recommend!
